Regulatory Information
Pedestrian Protection & Frontal Projections (UNECE R26 / R127):
If the plate stays underneath the vehicle, pedestrian safety regulations do not apply.
Crash Dynamics & Structural Integrity (UNECE R94 / Directive 2014/45/EU):
Skid plates must bolt onto existing OEM holes or subframe locations.
Exhaust & Heat Clearance:
Skid plates must provide adequate thermal clearance from exhaust systems and DPFs.
Corrosion & Structural Degradation (Directive 2014/45/EU)
Periodic Technical Inspections (PTI): Roadworthiness inspectors (TÜV, ITV, Dekra, etc.) routinely check underbodies for severe rust. Untreated steel rusts quickly when exposed to road salt, mud, and water.
Material Chemical Compliance (REACH & RoHS)
The steel, mounting bolts, and coatings must comply with EU REACH rules concerning heavy metals and hazardous substances.
